NBC - winner of over 1,000 Emmy awards, and the folks that brought you shows like
Bonanza, Laugh In,
Cheers, Seinfeld and

If you're the type who enjoys television history, then NBC is a good place to start as they have been
there since the beginning. The National Broadcasting Company began in 1926 as the NBC radio network
created by General Electric, RCA, and Westinghouse. NBC became the first permanent broadcasting network
in the nation and held the first ever U.S. coast-to-coast radio broadcast with the 1927 Rose Bowl.
By 1932 NBC began experimenting with television broadcasting. Just seven years later, in 1939, NBC made
history by televising the opening ceremonies of the New York World's Fair. In 1953 they were the first
network to perform a color telecast.
Milton 'Uncle Milty' Berle helped launch the Texaco Star Theater in 1948. The show was so wildly
successful that NBC signed Berle to a lifetime contract for "putting television on the map." That
was the golden age of television, when the first TV stars were born.
