KCET is known as a producer of outstanding children's shows, family programs and award-winning local
news. You won't have to be afraid to let your kids watch KCET.
The station offers a free, one-hour tour of their production studios located in one of the oldest
continually used studios in all of Hollywood. Between 1912 and 1971, several companies, mostly making
B movies, came and went through the studio. The cult classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers
was shot here, as well as grade Z's like The Queen of Outer Space, with Zsa Zsa Gabor,
Sex Kittens Go To College, with Mamie Van Doren and Elvis Presley's Tickle Me.
Unfortunately Zsa Zsa, Mamie and Elvis aren't available for the tour, but you may see some ghosts.
KCET staff members report seeing a girl and boy in turn-of-the-century clothing, bouncing a ball.
Others tell of a woman in similar dress walking down the corridors then vanishing. Sounds like a
great place to visit at Halloween.
