CBS began production on several series', including
Rawhide and
Gunsmoke. Just four years
later, in 1967, CBS purchased the entire facility and immediately added several sound stages and
upgraded their post production facilities. It wasn't long before CBS began adding live audience seating
to some of its stages.
The Studio Center has been the home for several feature films, including A Man Called Horse, Le
Mans and Little Big Man. Classic television shows include Hawaii Five-O, Gilligan's
Island, Big Valley, Wild Wild West, (sensing a western theme?) and Combat. The Studio
Center has also hosted Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Remington Steele, Falcon Crest, Newhart,
Thirtysomething, Evening Shade, Twilight Zone, Roseanne, Larry Sanders Show and Seinfeld.
Throughout the years the Studio Center has partnered with other production companies, and has been
called both CBS/Fox Studios and CBS/MTM Studios. Today the Studio Center is once again wholly owned by
CBS and its 40 acre lot has grown to include 18 sound stages ranging in size from 7,000 to 25,000 sq.
ft. with over 220,000 sq. ft. of office space and 223 star dressing rooms.
